Wish your wireless network had better range?
Wireless connection keeps resetting?
Dropping the signal link?
Tired of having to work with your laptop on a weird angle?
Well, here’s a little well-kept secret that they just don’t seem to
tell you.
It’s simple, requires no tools or special equipment, and takes less
than 10 minutes.
Don’t believe it, try it!
Open the setup page
of your Router / Modem.
This is usually accomplished by opening your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, etc.)
and typing in the IP address of your router.
In most cases it’s usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254.
Check the manual that came with your router for the
specific address if the examples don’t work
Click on the
‘Wireless’ heading and under wireless click "Advanced Wireless
Settings".
Once there, change
the "Beacon Interval" to 50. (from 100)
Change the
"Fragmentation Threshold" to 2304. (from 2346)
And change the RTS
Threshold to 2304. (from 2346)
Save the settings.
Turn OFF the router.
Turn it back ON after
20 seconds.
YourDone!
A little note here:
Write down the original settings,so you’ll be able to change
Them back later, without having to completely reset the modem/router.
